I have been using social media for 6 years. I have also seen the growth, but lately it feels like an explosion. Good to see more people getting involved and businesses jumping on board.

Thanks for the mention Zach!!! I appreciate you and Chris helping people keep track of the SM scene in Kansas City. All too often we look at other cities and talk about what's going on there while forgetting that there is lots going on here also.

Much deserved attention for the great folks at Embarq. They're doing fantastic work and really showing how social media reaches across the enterprise.

Cheers,

I was looking at my Twitter feeds and noticed this link. I am so glad I found it because I was just discussing this same topic, enterprise 2.0 and social media, with my classmates and my teacher. I really wish more businesses would be open to integrating these valuable Web 2.0 tools into their corporations because it could really influence their bottom lines in a good way. My team and I published a few great articles and findings on our social media site here: http://social20media.com.

People are interested. For a long time that was the big obstacle for people in the field and evangelists. Now the big job is to keep showing how these tools and strategies can continue to add value. All of our causes are improved from talented people putting out content that influence people in the industry.

I have noticed a lot of local companies and organizations jumping on board lately. A lot of new Facebook pages and Twitter accounts at least. Be sure to support the local companies you patron if they are in fact on Facebook and Twitter so they feel the social media love.

One more that I would like to point out is the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce taking advantage of the social media site LinkedIn. They only allow members of the Chamber to join and it is fostering some great discussion and hopefully providing their members more benefits. They even had some free seminars for members to learn how to use LinkedIn and may have some more advanced classes in the near future!
